RadioOnFire.com - Crews on Tuesday responded to a water main break outside the Pimlico Race Course grandstand, just a few days before the Preakness Stakes.
The eight-inch break caused water to bubble up over the asphalt. Water service was shut off to the facility while crews made the repair.
On Wednesday, crews completed a repair to the water main and returned water service to the facility.
As of Wednesday morning, repairs still need to be made the asphalt where the repairs were made.
The issue is in addition to maintenance issues with the historic grandstand itself. Thousands of seats will be off-limits Saturday, as the Maryland Jockey Club determined them to be unsafe. After Baltimore officials expressed skepticism, city engineers verified that finding.
