RadioOnFire.com – Nicole Blank Becker, R. Kelly’s attorney, spoke with TMZ, revealing that the embattled singer prefers solitary confinement over general population. She explained that Kelly is fearful of violence from other inmates angry about the accusations surrounding the singer. While in solitary, Kelly has only 15 minutes a month to speak with friends and family, unlike in general population where inmates have access to the phone all the time. Kelly is currently being held without bail until his next hearing on September 4.
Federal prosecutors called Kelly a “danger to the community, especially to minor girls,” adding that the singer “can entice girls to his own doorstep, he doesn’t have to leave his home to do that.” The singer was arrested last week in a 13-count indictment which includes charges of child pornography, enticement of a minor, and obstruction of justice. Kelly is facing 18 counts for a slew of serious alleged sexual crimes against 10 victims.
