RadioOnFire.com – Baltimore police are investigating after a Monday incident in which an officer placed an arrestee in a choke hold.
A bystander’s video of the encounter was posted to Twitter Thursday.
In the video, an unidentified officer has the unidentified male pinned and repeatedly tells him to put his hands behind his back.
“You’re choking me, sir,” the arrestee says.
Police spokesman Matt Jablow said police are investigating the circumstances that led to the arrest and are evaluating whether the arrest and the use of force were in accordance with department guidelines.
Last month, the department announced a new policy on the use of force. Officers received 16 hours of training on the new rules.
Police would not name either the officers involved or the man who was taken into custody, but said the incident happened in the Southern District. The suspect was charged with felony drug possession, trespassing and resisting arrest, Jablow said. The officer was taken to the hospital because the suspect bit him, Jablow said.
