Police Investigate 5 Arsons In Baltimore City; 2 Suspects Arrested

RadioOnFire.com – Baltimore City Police are investigating a series of arson fires in Southwest Baltimore.

Since Monday, police say there have been 17 fires reported. Five have been ruled arson, and others remain under investigation.

Each fire was reported in a vacant home and there were no injuries.

Four fires were reported on Saturday, and all four were ruled arson.

The fires were reported in the 2400 block of Christian Street, 500 block of South Bentalou Street, 200 block of Furrow Street, and 300 block of Furrow Street.

On Sunday, Baltimore police tweeted that they had arrested and charged 37-year old William Ritchie and 41-year old Shawn Krainer in connection with two of the arsons.

Police ask that anyone with information is asked to call the Southwest District at 410-396-2488 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup. 

Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott says the City Council’s Public Safety Committee will update Southwest Baltimore residents on the investigation and hear their concerns during a meeting on Tuesday.

 The meeting is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 17 in City Hall.
