RadioOnFire.com - A man was killed late Sunday night after barricade with police in northwest Baltimore, officials said.
Officers were called around 11:40 p.m. Sunday for a report of an assault at a house in the 4900 block of Pembridge Avenue, a few blocks south of Pimlico Race Course, Baltimore police said.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said officers encountered a man outside the house who went back inside the house. Harrison said the officers received information that led them to believe the man had a gun. Harrison said the man repeatedly threatened to kill the officers.
Harrison said the man came back outside after midnight and an officer fired their weapon. The man retreated inside the home and police initiated barricade situation.
Harrison said a hostage negotiation team responded, and a woman came out of the house saying the man was sleeping.
SWAT officers entered the house and found the man unresponsive. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harrison said he has reviewed body camera video and that he was confident that there was information that led officers to believe the man had a firearm.
No officers were hurt in the incident, police said.
