A man and a 22-month-old child was injured in a possible shooting Sunday night in Milford Mill, police said.
At 7:01 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 3500 block of Derby Shire Circle, where they found a child suffering from a laceration that may have been caused by gunfire. The child was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
Police believe the incident stemmed from an argument between the child’s mother and ex-boyfriend. Police said the ex-boyfriend assaulted the woman then another resident, a man, attempted to stop the assault. The ex-boyfriend produced a handgun and a struggle ensued. The gun went off, shooting the resident in the upper body and grazing the child.
Police said the shooter dropped the gun and officers arrested him after a brief foot chase
The suspect’s name will be released after he is formally charged.
