RadioOnFire.com - According to multiple reports, the Los Angeles Lakers and Tyronn Lue have decided to cut off contract talks to make Lue the next head coach. Stephen A. Smith explained on Wednesday that Lue was looking for a five-year deal instead of the three-year offer he received. Marc Stein of the New York Times also reported that the Lakers front office were looking to fill the coaching staff instead of Lue who was rumored to have begun piecing together a staff.
The two sides were reportedly close to a deal as early as Monday per Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes. Whatever the case, the rapid dissipation of contract talks leaves the Lakers with a coaching vacancy that needs to be filled ASAP.
