RadioOnFire.com – A Maryland Transit Administration mobility bus late Thursday struck and killed a 78-year-old homeless man who was lying on top of two manhole covers on a Baltimore City street, police said. WBAL-TV 11 reports officers were called around 11:09 p.m. to the 100 block of East Saratoga Street. The manholes had visible fogs of steam rising from them.
The temperature in downtown Baltimore around that time was below 40 degrees. The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Shock Trauma, where he died. Police said the bus driver wasn’t aware he had hit anyone. Police said the man’s dark clothes and the rising fog likely obscured the victim from view.
