Discovery Acquires the “Killing Michael Jackson” Documentary About His Death

RadioOnFire.com - In the midst of explosive documentaries to air in recent months like "Surviving R. Kelly" and "Leaving Neverland," Discovery Networks International has acquired the rights to a film titled "Killing Michael Jackson," dedicated to the circumstances behind his death that shocked the world almost ten years ago to the day.

The hourlong film features the three U.S. detectives who led the original investigation into the controversial singer’s death in 2009, who are reunited onscreen for the first time since the trial of Doctor Conrad Murray, who later served half of a four year sentence after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The focus of "Killing Michael Jackson" is to show the detectives reopen their original case file as they reveal new details, in addition to exploring Jackson and Murray’s co-dependent relationship at the time of his death.

With that said, the documentary is only planned to air throughout Europe, as Discovery will launch the film on its Quest Red channel in the U.K., while also broadcasting on its channels in Italy, Germany, and the Nordics. Elsewhere, the doc was also picked up by Polsat Television in Poland, TVNZ in New Zealand, and Medialaan in Belgium, as there are no current plans for any broadcasts in the United States.
