Charges Pending In Fatal Hit-And-Run On BW Parkway Sunday

Radio On Fire – One person was killed and charges are pending for a driver in a possible hit-and-run crash Sunday evening on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Sunday, police say.

Police were called to the BW Parkway, north of Route 100, for reports of a crash just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to an initial investigation, Stuart A. R. Johnson Jr., 41, of Baltimore, Maryland, was changing a flat tire of a commercial passenger bus when he was struck by a passing car.

The passing car did not stop and stay on the scene, investigators report. A witness followed the car while giving information to police.

The suspected hit-and-run driver later stopped the car and ran on foot before being caught by officers assisting from the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the Anne Arundel County Police Department, according to the Maryland State Police.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators determined he was employed by a roadside repair company to change the tire on the bus.

The driver was taken to the Glen Burnie Barrack for questioning and identified as Brittany L. Walton, 23, of Hanover, Maryland.

Charges against Walton are pending, police say.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating the incident and consulting the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding charges.
