Baltimore County Police Officer Charged With Rape, Sex Assault

RadioOnFire.com – A Baltimore County Police officer has been suspended without pay and jailed as he faces rape and assault charges.

Officer Anthony Michael Westerman, 25, is in the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail, after his arrest this weekend.

Westerman has been a member of the Baltimore County Police Department for six years and was most recently assigned to the Essex Precinct.

Authorities are not saying much about the case against Westerman, but in a news release, police said the case was initiated after investigators received information concerning the allegations.  The Special Victims Unit pursued the investigation, leading to charges.

Westerman is charged with two counts of second-degree rape and three counts of second degree assault.

Baltimore County Police Chief Melissa Hyatt said in a news release that “the allegations made in this case are reprehensible and are not representative of the values and ethics of the Baltimore County Police Department. As a result of a thorough investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau, the officer has been arrested and has been suspended without pay.
