There is video footage of a black Baltimore City policeman hitting a barefoot black woman in the face, knocking her to the ground. The disturbing interaction from last night shows a white officer attempting to grab the lady, she then hits him in the face.
“Get your hands off me!”, the woman says to the officer.
Things escalate further when she escapes a second officers grasp landing an additional strike to the original officers face.
After landing her second punch, the black officer punches her from behind, knocking her to the ground.
The white officer proceeds to arrest the woman and as an unidentified man attempts to come closer to the melee, the black cop pulls his gun on the man.
Mayor Jack Young says the incident is being investigated.
“I believe the first officer, who was struck multiple times by the woman, showed remarkable restraint by not retaliating as he was being assaulted,”
Young, who is running for re-election continued, “The woman should have been placed under arrest and not assaulted. Our system of justice does not involve the concept of an ‘eye for an eye.’ ”
The incident happened on a night when protests spread nationwide sparked by the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Park police.
Mayor Jack Young claims the offending officer, who has not been identified, has been ‘removed from police duties.’
