RadioOnFire.com – As is seemingly tradition, Mother Nature is greeting Artscape with some of Baltimore’s nastiest summer weather. Baltimore is under a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through the weekend, with heat indices set to cross into triple digits.
The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts released information Thursday on where visitors can go to cool down.
There will be five outdoor cooling stations. The Baltimore City Fire Department will have a misting station at Maryland and Mt. Royal avenues. There will also be misting tents at the Artscape Main Stage and Charles and at Lanvale streets. Two Maryland Transit Administration buses will also be available, one on Mt. Royal Avenue between Charles and St. Paul streets and the other on Preston Street near Kidscape.
Artscape also has indoor events and activities where visitors can seek refuge. Gamescape is open all weekend at 1915 Maryland Ave. Teenscape is open at Motor House from Friday through Sunday. Films are showing as part of Artscape at the Parkway Theatre during select hours. High Zero’s Worlds In Collusion is open Saturday at the University of Baltimore’s Student Center, as is the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric. LOL@Artscape is open at The BIG Theatre from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
